Kimma wants to be bumi. Again.

- Trashed by SampahMan @ 9:15 PM

During the party's working council, Kimma (Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress) had decided to submit a memorandum to seek affiliation with UMNO. The party's president, Amir Amsaa Alla Pitchay is reported as saying that the decision was taken because "Indian Muslims in the country have no representation at the state or federal level" (Which they managed to self-contradict themselves once again, see later).

The following day, after the horrible truth dawned on them that religion does not equate to race (and after being ignored by the government for the past 28 years), Kimma apparently changed their stance and stated that they would settle with having bumiputera status. Kimma's acting president,
Syed Ibrahim Kader (what happened to Alla Pitchay from the previous day???) stated that this was important because their community would "enjoy privileges in education, socio-economic welfare, employment and such." (ahhh, enjoyment, so this is what it's all about!)

In response to this breaking news article, KUIIDM (Kongres Umat Islam Indonesia Di Malaysia) has laughed off Kimma's feeble attempts at using politics to achieve their goal. Said president Ahmed Suprianto in an extremely succint statement, "We came, we saw, we kongket. Now we have bumiputera status." Suprianto also expressed his belief that the dimwits at Kimma would never understand the very obvious hint in his statement.

On another note, the government has confirmed that other parties and associations have submitted similar applications for bumiputera status. They are mainly:
CCPM (Chinese Christian Party Malaysia)
PMCTB (Peninsular Malaysia Chinese Taoists and Buddhists)
BSFCO (Buddhist Society for Chinese Only)
SAIC (Secular and Agnostic Indians and Chinese)
FMAA (Filipino Maids Action Association)
BHHLA (Bangladeshi Hand-Holding Laborer's Association)
SHRID (Society of Handsome and Rich Indian Doctors)
KKGHMCRC (Kepong and Klang Gold Haired Modified Car Racer 's Club)
MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association)
MIC (Malaysian Indian Congress)

The government has indicated that they will convene an emergency meeting to discuss these applications on February 29th 2010. A government spokesperson has indicated under condition of anonymity that if the meeting ever took place in 4 years' time, those communities will certainly be given bumi status. She also indicated that the government looks forward to the day when all Malaysians will enjoy privileges in education, economy, and welfare.
