Disgruntled Voice Actors Voice Concerns
- Trashed by SampahMan @ 4:43 PM
Subang Jaya (Selangor) - Over lunch at the college canteen, Inti College students, Terry Teluk Intan and Balagunasegaran Butterworth were discussing the apparent snub by a telecommunications provider for their nationally advertised radio ad. The ads setting, which was a classroom, with a lecturer taking attendance, was aired two weeks ago on national radio. They claimed that they were promised 50 dollars to do some voice acting, and that they were not paid a single cent because their spot was edited out from the ad. Said Mr Intan, while eating his already cold pan mee, "They explained that the radio ad had to be 20 seconds long, therefore, my name had to be excluded because it was TOO long. How much more time would it have taken to call my name out and have me answer 'Here'?"
Mr Butterworth mentioned that the company refused to put him in the ad because the lecturer had problems pronouncing his name. "What kind of excuse is that to exclude a perfectly good name? How is my name harder to pronounce than Badul Bintulu?", demanded Mr Butterworth.
When contacted, Suzy Serdang, who was featured in the ad, mentioned that it was all a case of sour grapes. She explained the real reason they were left out, "Terry sounded like a Chinaman Ah Beng, and Bala was trying too hard to sound Indian by rolling his R's too much."
When eventually confronted with this reason, all Mr Teluk Intan and Mr Butterworth had to say was: "Fucking bitch."
- Badul Bintulu and the lecturer were not available for comment.
